Lance Smith has been involved in the design of a number of commercial office buildings for prestigious clients.
These range from new construction in a decentralized sub-urban setting to the refurbishment of historical buildings in existing downtowns.
His role included the management, design, documentation and contract administration of the projects. He also undertook surveys of existing historical structures, proposing procedures for their rehabilitation and in some instances the change of use.
Education
Work in the education field covers the whole spectrum of the planning process - from master plans to planning layouts of existing buildings to improve their utilization factor.
While with Cooper Robertson and Partners he worked on the Master Plan for the Fordham University Campus at Lincoln Center, the new Athletic Facilities for the Ethical Culture Fieldston School in the Bronx, and prepared preliminary designs for the Hunter College School of Social Work, and played a lead role in the competition entry for the Fordham Law School Building.
His South African experience includesMaster Plans for the three campuses of the University of Natal, a Technical High School for the Provincial Government , and an Innovation Center for the University of Natal.
